Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law – BA LLB
Duration - Five years Course
Eligibility - Students passing H.S.C. (10+2) Examination or equivalent with minimum 45% of marks can be admitted to the first year of this course.
Student should have appeared for the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH CET) of BA LLB 5 Years.
BA LLB is a full time, 5 years, integrated law course, accredited by The Bar Council of India. In BA LLB, the first 3 semesters are dominated by arts subjects and the rest 5 semesters consist of topics related to legal matters, litigation and advocacy. LLB Course is different from BA LLB as it is a 3-year law degree and it needs students to complete any bachelor’s degree before applying
BA LLB Admissions are usually conducted on the basis of various law entrance exams, which must be cleared after completing class 12 board exams. Students have to sit for various BA LLB entrance exams that are conducted both at the national and state levels such as CLAT, AILET, MH CET Law etc.
BA LLB Syllabus includes core subjects from the field of humanities such as Political Science, Sociology, History and from Law such as Family Law, International Law, Constitutional Law. BA LLB 5 Years Syllabus contains 2 years of Arts subjects and 3 years of LLB subjects.
After completing BA LLB, one can choose to pursue higher studies by enrolling themselves in LLM and PhD. This will help candidates to make a career in academics. Similarly, one can enroll in the State Bar Council and practice as an advocate. They can also work as legal consultants or advisors across MNCs and other government organizations.
Post successfully completing a law degree students can choose to pursue a career as a Lawyer or a Judge. However, there are several prerequisites and other eligibility criteria that must be fulfilled in order to make a career as mentioned above. The salary of a Lawyer in India usually ranges between INR 4.50 L – 9 L annually. However, with experience and exposure, the salary of a Lawyer can go upto as much as INR 57 L – 1 Crore.
