Arham Law College, Pune has constituted the Divyangjan Cell (Differently Abled Welfare Cell) with the objective of creating an inclusive, accessible, and supportive learning environment for students with disabilities (Divyangjan). The Cell is committed to ensuring equal opportunities in academic, administrative, and co-curricular activities, in accordance with the principles of equity, dignity, and non-discrimination.
The Divyangjan Cell works towards identifying the needs of differently abled students and facilitating necessary support mechanisms, including academic accommodations, physical accessibility, assistive facilities, and counselling support. The Cell also coordinates with faculty members and administrative authorities to sensitise the campus community towards the rights and challenges of Divyangjan students.
Purpose and Objectives of the Divyangjan Cell
- To promote inclusive education and ensure equal access to learning opportunities for Divyangjan students.
- To provide academic and administrative support, including examination-related accommodations as per university and statutory guidelines.
- To facilitate a barrier-free campus environment by recommending necessary infrastructural and assistive measures.
- To create awareness and sensitisation among students, faculty, and staff regarding disability rights and inclusivity.
- To address grievances of differently abled students in a timely and empathetic manner.
- To encourage participation of Divyangjan students in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Institutional Commitment through Arham Foundation
Arham Law College, Pune, through its parent body Arham Foundation, has been actively working towards the empowerment and recognition of Divyangjan for several years. As a part of its sustained social commitment, Arham Foundation has been conferring Divyangjan Awards for many years to honour individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage, talent, and contribution to society despite physical or intellectual challenges.
These awards reflect the institution’s long-standing dedication to social inclusion, respect for diversity, and advocacy for the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities. The establishment of the Divyangjan Cell further strengthens this commitment by institutionalising support and inclusivity within the academic framework.
